The Supreme Court has ruled on the matter of removing stray dogs from Delhi-NCR and keeping it permanently in shelter home. The court said that we are making some amendments in the previous order. Justice Vikram Nath, while reading the order, said that we have made all the states and union territories side to side so that the national policy can be talked about.
The Supreme Court amended the previous order and said that the ban on the dogs dropping back has been removed. The court said that rabies and dangerous dogs should not be released. The court has said that the dogs who were caught should be vacated and released back. Apart from this, sick and aggressive dogs will be kept in the shelter home itself. The court said that anywhere does not give food to dogs, a fixed place should be made in every area.
The Supreme Court made it clear that action will be taken to feed stray dogs in public places. A person who obstructed the work of the team catching dogs will be fined 25 thousand and NGO will be fined 2 lakh. The court said that the helpline will be started to file a complaint against those who violate the rules.
Animal lovers can apply to MCD for adoption of dogs. It will be their responsibility that once adopted dogs should not be released again on the streets. The Supreme Court has said that a national policy will be made regarding stray dogs. The court increased the scope of the order and said that now the order will be applicable for the whole country.
