Justice Yashwant Verma of Allahabad High Court is alleged to have caused fire in the government residence of Justice Yashwant Verma located at 30, Tughlaq Cressant in March 2025. When the fire department and the police reached the spot, the stores were burnt around the room and the premises and half -burnt 500 rupee notes were found. NDMC scavengers also confirmed the pieces of notes burnt from the nearby garbage, which continued to meet a few days before and after the fire. After this, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court also formed a committee and sent the report of that committee to the government for further action.

In the parliamentary history of India, the Parliament has seriously considered the impeachment motion in only two cases. The first case was of Justice V. Rama Swamy (1993), who were accused of misuse of the post and financial irregularities, but the resolution could not be passed due to lack of two-thirds majority of majority in the Lok Sabha. The second case was of Justice Soumitra Sen (2011), who was accused of misusing the trust amount while being a lawyer before becoming a judge; The Rajya Sabha passed the impeachment motion, but he resigned before the voting in the Lok Sabha, which ended the process.
