All cases related to Banke Bihari Temple Corridor of Vrindavan will now be heard in the same bench of the Supreme Court. On Wednesday (July 30, 2025), the information about the pending petitions of similar petitions in 2 different benches was given to Chief Justice BR Gavai. On this, he directed to hear all the cases simultaneously. During the hearing, the court reprimanded the lawyer of Goswamis who managed the temple.
Court refused to hear earlier
The lawyer appearing on behalf of the Goswami family put a case in front of the 3 -member bench headed by the Chief Justice. The lawyer said that he has appeared due to the busy of senior advocate Kapil Sibal. Justice Satish Chandra Sharma was also sitting in this 3 -member bench. Justice Sharma, who was already listening to the matter, immediately remembered that he had refused to hear this petition earlier. Justice Sharma said that the petitioner should not run such a trick.
Instructions to start contempt proceedings
Chief Justice Gawai became very angry at this. He directed to start contempt proceedings against the lawyer, but Justice Satish Chandra Sharma did not carry it forward, showing generosity. There has been a lot of controversy between the Goswamis and the Uttar Pradesh government for the management of the famous Banke Bihari temple and the corridor for pilgrims around it. The state government has issued an ordinance on the management of the temple. It has been challenged by the temple management committee.
