‘Rahul Gandhi can become Ambedkar of OBC society’, Udit Raj said- History does not give opportunity again and again

Congress leader Udit Raj said on Saturday (26 July 2025) that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha (LOP) Rahul Gandhi will prove to be “second Ambedkar” for the Other Backward Classes (OBC). Udit Raj said that OBC society should support Rahul Gandhi’s statements.

Talking to ANI, Udit Raj said, “There is an X-ray of caste census society in Telangana. Rahul Gandhi wants to implement it in the whole country. His thoughts are visionary. If Dalits and backward classes come forward, our economy will be encouraged. The inequality spread in the society will be reduced. If OBC Rahul Gandhi understands, he will prove to be other Ambedkar for him.”

History does not give opportunities again and again- Udit Raj

Raj posted on X, “The OBC will have to think that history does not give opportunities for progress repeatedly. He should follow and support the things said by Rahul Gandhi at Talkatora Stadium. If they do so, Rahul Gandhi will prove to be another Ambedkar for him.” On Friday, Rahul Gandhi admitted that Rahul Gandhi did not make caste census during the UPA government and said that he is firm to rectify it.

What did Rahul Gandhi say?

Speaking at the OBC’s ‘Participation Justice Conference’ at Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium, Rahul Gandhi said that he had failed to understand the issues of the first other backward classes (OBC) community, while he had difficulty in understanding the issues of Dalits, tribals and women, where he claimed that the Congress had done commendable work. He said that I think about my work, where I did well and where I was weak, and I see two or three things. Land Acquisition Bill, MNREGA, Right to Food, Tribal Bill and Niyamagiri struggle – I did all these works. As far as the issues of tribals, Dalits and women are concerned, I should get good marks there. I did a good job, ”

There was a shortage in Congress party and my work- Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi said that there was a shortage in the Congress party and my work. I did not protect the OBC community as I should have done. The reason for this is that I could not understand OBC issues deeply at that time. Ten-fifteen years ago, I understood the difficulties of Dalits. Their issues are visible easily, but the problems of OBC are hidden. If I had known about your issues and problems at that time, I would have got a caste-based census at the same time. This was my fault, which I am going to improve. “

He further said that in a way, it happened that it happened, because if I had done a caste-based census at that time, there would not have been a situation like today. He further said that Dalits, backward classes, tribal and minority represent 90 percent of the country’s population, yet they are excluded from the procedures of making major decisions including the Union Budget.
