The 25 -year -old young man attempted suicide at the inaccessible Cheruvu Cable Bridge in Hyderabad at around 6:30 pm on Friday (July 25, 2025), but quick action by the Hydraa Disaster Response Force (DRF) saved his life. This incident happened when the DRF team was cleaning the drains near the bridge to drain the rain water.
Tirupati, an employee of DRF, saw that a young man was trying to jump from the cable bridge to the lake. Immediately the entire team was alerted. Some employees tried to stop the young man, while Tirupati ran fast and caught him safely. A major accident was averted with this courageous step. The people present there breathed a sigh of relief.
Hydraa official saved his life
Initial investigation by the police has revealed that the young man’s name is Rami Reddy (25) who is married and has a young daughter. He is a victim of alcohol addiction and after a quarrel with his wife, he left home and went to try to commit suicide. A Hydraa official said, “Our team took action in time and saved life. Our aim is to ensure the safety of the people.”
After the incident, Rami Reddy was handed over to the Madhapur police. The police called his sister and handed him over, because his wife had left home in anger. Inspector D. Krishna Mohan, an officer of Madhapur police station, said, “We have sent the young man for counseling and trying to understand his mental state. Family disputes and alcohol addiction seem to be the main reasons for this incident.”

This incident is not the first case of suicide attempt in inaccessible Cheruvu. Even before this, many such incidents have come to light.
