Police sought a CCTV footage of 11 July of the entire campus of IIM-Kalakatta on Tuesday (July 15, 2025) as part of an investigation into the incident of a woman allegedly raped by a student inside the hostel, an official gave this information.
The police found a disturbance in the woman’s claim and she wants to find out which places of the institute had visited the institute while staying there that day. The official said the investigators have written a letter to the officials of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta seeking permission to interrogate the three students who were in contact with the accused after the crime.
The victim has not yet allowed medical examination
He said, ‘We have sought CCTV footage of July 11 of the entire campus. We have to see where the victim went inside the premises. The official also said that the alleged rape victim has not yet given her consent for medical-related testing regarding the investigation of the case. He is out of contact. We are trying to contact her.
The officer of Haridevpur police station said, ‘The IIM-Kalakatta campus is not having any match in his claims about the period of his stay. This is the reason why we need CCTV footage, so that it can be ascertained when she entered the campus, where she went and left at what time.
Nine -member special investigation team constituted for investigation
The alleged incident took place on Friday (July 11, 2025) inside the hostel of IIM-Kalakatta boys and the accused student was arrested the next day on the basis of an FIR lodged by the victim at Haridevpur police station.
The police has formed a nine -member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case, which is headed by an assistant commissioner of the South Western Division. The local court has sent the student to police custody till 19 July.
