Parliamentary panel meeting: In a meeting of a committee of Parliament, security in the aviation sector was specially discussed on Wednesday (July 09, 2025) and its members questioned the security standards being adopted by the official agencies and private airlines. The aircraft accident in Ahmedabad last month has brought the issue related to the security of the aviation sector to the center.
Concern about vacant posts in DGCA
Sources said that some members of the Standing Committee related to Transport, Tourism and Culture expressed concern over a large number of vacancies in the aviation regulator DGCA, while some others referred to not implementing several previous recommendations of the committee on behalf of the agency.
Several official agencies including the Indian Aircraft Deal Authority and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are expected to be presented during the day -long meeting of the committee headed by Janata Dal (U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha.
Many big officials attend the meeting
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India is among the representatives of the airline who are participating in this meeting. Many of these officers were also involved in the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday.
During the PAC meeting, DGCA had said that he will now install a mechanism to prevent a huge rise in air ticket prices, keeping in mind the recent situation during the Mahakumbh and the post -Paugam terror attack. On June 12, Air India aircraft Boeing 787 Dreamline crashed shortly after flying from Ahmedabad Airport. More than 250 people died in this accident.
