Rohit Saran, a 60-year-old senior captain of a reputed airline, has been accused of allegedly raping a 26-year-old female crew member. This incident took place on November 18, 2025, during his layover in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a zero FIR has been registered at Begumpet police station in Hyderabad, which has now been transferred to Halasuru police station in Bengaluru for investigation.
According to the information received, the victim female crew member lodged a complaint at Begumpet Police Station, after which the police took immediate action and registered a case under Section 63 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) (which was earlier Section 376 of the IPC). This section deals with serious allegations of rape, since the place of incident was Bengaluru, the case has been transferred to the concerned police station there, Halasuru Police Station, for investigation, so that it can be easier to locate the evidence and witnesses.
The victim told the police that the senior pilot had forced her
The allegation that the accused Captain Rohit Saran is a senior pilot with decades of experience in the aviation sector has shocked the aviation community. At the time of the incident, the two had a professional relationship and were part of the same flight crew. The incident reportedly happened in a hotel during a layover in Bengaluru. The victim has stated in her complaint that the accused pilot forced herself on her.
The airline suspended the accused pilot until the investigation is completed
Bengaluru Police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigation. He has recorded the statement of the victim and said that the accused pilot will be interrogated soon. Police are also examining the CCTV footage of the hotel and other related evidence so that the incident can be confirmed. Meanwhile, taking the matter seriously, the airline company has also started an internal investigation and the accused pilot has been suspended until the investigation is completed.
