The campaign being run against Maoist insurgency in Telangana has been a big success. During the last two years, the effect of joint action of police and administration has started becoming visible, the result of which is that a large number of Maoists have left the forests and returned to the mainstream. This figure is not just a figure, but an indication of the breakdown of the structure of the militants.
According to official figures, a total of 576 Maoists have surrendered in the last two years. The most important thing in this is that these people have not come empty handed. He has deposited a total of 144 high quality weapons before the police. From a strategic point of view, this is a big disruption, because these weapons have now come into the hands of the security forces.
The biggest feature of this surrender is the position of the people involved in it. This is not a common cadre, but top level leaders of the organization. Those who surrendered include four members of the Central Committee of the Maoist Party and five members of the State Committee. When the members of the top committee, which is called the backbone of the organization, are changing their path, it clearly shows what will be the level of morale of the other members hidden in the forests.
Telangana DGP appealed
Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Shivdhar Reddy issued an appeal on this occasion saying that time is running out and those who are still hiding in the forests should come out immediately. Arguing the DGP, he said, ‘If the people you are leading have surrendered themselves, then there is no longer any justification for your staying there. Think and join the mainstream.
When the top leadership surrenders its arms, it becomes difficult for the workers working at the military level to continue the struggle. The police administration believes that this is a positive step taken towards peace and development.
