A big decision has been taken in the 56th meeting of GST Council. In this meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitman, the slab of GST has been reduced from three to two. Now which slabs in GST?
Now GST will have only two slabs- 5 percent and 18 percent, while the third slab will be special. He said that 28 percent slab has been removed from GST. The new GST rates will be applicable from 22 September 2025.
Changes made keeping in mind the common man: Sitharaman
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, ‘These reforms have been done keeping in mind the common man. Every tax on daily use of the common man has been reviewed and in most cases the rates have decreased drastically. Farmers and agriculture sector as well as health sector will benefit.
On which goods now only 5 percent GST?
The items on which GST has been reduced to 5 % includes hair oil, toilet soap, soap cake, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, bicycle, tableware, kitchenware, salty, bhujia, sauce, pasta, chocolate, coffee and other household items.
