At least 45 pilgrims lost their lives in a very tragic accident in the holy city of Medina in Saudi Arabia, in which one UV had a narrow escape. This tragic accident happened while going from Medina to Mecca, when the bus suddenly went out of control and overturned and after hitting the tanker, it caught fire.
The magnitude of the incident is clearly evident from the fact that a large part of the bus was completely burnt to ashes due to the fire. According to eyewitnesses, sounds of screams and cries could be heard far and wide, but due to the heavy fire and smoke, rescue operations faced a lot of difficulties.
Shuaib, a resident of Hyderabad, was the only survivor of the accident.
Shuaib Mohammad Muzaffarati survived despite being seriously injured, but the fire that broke out in the bus immediately after the accident did not give any chance to the other passengers to recover. Shuaib Mohammed, a resident of Hyderabad, who is the only surviving witness of the accident, said that he broke the window and jumped out, which saved his life. He saw his friends trapped in the burning bus, but he could not save them. His pain and shock can be understood from the fact that he still has not recovered from the shock of this incident. Most of the dead were pilgrims from various states of India, who had come to Saudi Arabia to complete their holy pilgrimage.
Identification of dead bodies difficult due to horrific accident
This accident was so gruesome that even identifying the dead bodies is becoming difficult. The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to King Fahad and King Salman hospitals in Meeqaat. Local authorities are taking further action with utmost caution and seriousness as a precautionary measure.
Questions raised on the safety of pilgrims
Saudi authorities have started investigating the accident and Indian Embassy officials are also in touch with the families of the victims. Shuaib is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital in Madina in a traumatic condition.
This terrible accident has once again highlighted the need for safety and precaution during pilgrimages. This tragedy has raised serious questions on the security arrangements of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. This is an unbearable loss for the families of the victims and people all over the world are praying for the peace of the souls of the deceased.
