20 dead so far in Jaisalmer bus fire, President-PM Modi expressed grief; declaration of compensation


A sudden fire broke out in an AC sleeper bus running on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur highway on Tuesday (14 October) afternoon in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. 20 passengers died by burning alive in the accident. Pokaran MLA Pratappuri has confirmed 20 deaths in the accident. He told that the accident happened due to short circuit.

PM Modi expressed grief, announced compensation
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) wrote in a post on social media platform X quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘I am distressed by the loss of life and property in an accident in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families in this difficult time. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the families of each deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.

President Murma expressed condolences
President Draupadi Murmu expressed grief over the accident. President Murmu wrote in X Post, ‘The news of death of many people due to fire in a bus in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan is extremely painful. I express my deep condolences to the bereaved families and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.

2 children also got burnt in the accident
2 children, 4 women and 9 other passengers got burnt in the accident. The burnt passengers were first taken to Jawahir Hospital in Jaisalmer, from where everyone was referred to Jodhpur. It is being told that most of the passengers have suffered burns up to 70 percent. A total of 57 people were traveling in the bus. The dead will be identified through DNA test.

According to reports, police said that the bus carrying 57 passengers had left Jaisalmer at around 3 pm. On the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur highway, smoke started coming out from the rear of the bus. The driver parked the bus on the roadside, but after some time the bus was completely engulfed in flames.

CM Bhajanlal expressed deep sorrow

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will leave for Jaisalmer in some time. After that he will also meet the injured in Jodhpur. Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar and ACS Shikhar Aggarwal are also going along with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Both will take stock of the situation after reaching there.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has expressed deep sorrow over the Jaisalmer bus accident. He has given instructions to provide the best treatment to the injured and provide all possible assistance to the victims. The Chief Minister spoke to the Collector and SP of Jaisalmer on phone and took complete information about the accident and has started monitoring the relief work. According to sources, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma can personally take stock of the situation and review the relief works.
